Here at High Cascade we decided that one person’s trash is in fact….. our campers treasure. This session we got the kids together and set out to raid the Gresham Good Will to find treasures of all kinds. The day started out in the lodge where the campers did some carpet boarding and played some ping pong!
Once everything is organized, everyone hops onto the Kicker Bus and we head down to the thrift store. On the bus ride down we had a dance off and told stories. It wasn’t hard to see that the kids were filled with anticipation as to what they would find. Finally, we made it. Everyone was given $15 bucks and let loose on the store like a pack of wolves.
As you can see, the variety of buy’s here at the thrift store are infinite. From Hawaiin shirts, hockey mits, old technology to grandma’s home knitted sweater, the kids will find anything and everything. The thrift store gives them a chance to be creative and to wear and acquire things they normally wouldn’t find anywhere else. The next day on hill, it’s highly likely you’ll see campers sporting some of their buys as they snowboard! This activity is something we at High Cascade will be doing for the rest of our existence. Like we said before, One man’s trash is another campers treasure.
