Signature Session™ #3

Right after the 4th of July, there's a cause for a second celebration: Session 3.

It marks the midway point of what's sure to be an epic summer at HCSC and boasts a collective 20 years of High Cascade Signature Sessioner™ experience (11 years of which from Pat and Leanne alone!). Because of the convenient dates of this coveted camp, session 3 sells out early so don't say we didn't warn you, because we just did.

Pat Moore

Pat Moore Holderness, NH

" The record holder! Pat is now in his 6th straight summer as a Signature Sessioner™ (more than any other rider ever!) and showing no signs of stopping. In fact, he once told us that he plans to do a session every summer until he retires. Pat has now done sessions with everyone from Danny Kass to Peter Line and this summer he invited John Jackson. As a former HCSC camper, Pat would come out from New Hampshire as a kid and knows exactly what it means to be a camper. Trust us: he wants your camp experience to be wicked awesome. "

Reason for Summer Snowboarding:
Summer snowboarding for me is the best because I can just ride with my friends, during the winter we're always filming and during the summer its nice just to get some laps in.
Favorite thing about HCSC?
My favorite thing about HCSC is Preston Strout.
Why Your Session?:
My session is best to come to because we are always there doing some sort of activity, and because we are always riding, all day everyday.

Bryan Fox

Bryan Fox Welches, OR

" People who don't know Bryan think he's scary; since he's fairly quiet and always dressed in black. But then they find out that he's engaged to the owner of Volcano Cones ice cream, and that he must be a nice guy. He is. The long time HCSC digger doesn't run his mouth for the sake of talking, and some folks confuse this demeanor. Make no mistake: this Southern California to Mt. Hood transplant (Fox now owns a home in Welches, OR 15 minutes from HCSC) is one heck of a guy and is so down for helping point snowboarding in the right direction it isn't even funny. "

Reason for Summer Snowboarding:
What would be the reason for not snowboarding in the summer?
Favorite thing about HCSC?
good people, good snowboarding, good skateboarding, good lakes, good ice cream, good hot dogs, good.
HCSC parks:
the lap park is the best thing to happen to summer snowboarding since hiking was invented.
Why Your Session?:
Pat Moore is really high on the exposure meter.

Curtis Ciszek

Curtis CiszekBend, OR

" Growing up in Bend, Oregon set Curtis down a decidedly Northwest path with his snowboarding. The rugged terrain and heavy, wet snows breed strong riders and Curtis is no exception. A long time HCSC camper, turned Digger, it's been exciting for us to watch Curtis grow up into one of the finest next generation powder rippers out there. Backed by Volcom and featured in films by People and 9191, Curtis' style is as easy to watch as his last name is hard to spell. "

Reason for Summer Snowboarding:
Because snowboarding is really fun so why not do it in the summer?
Favorite thing about HCSC?
Dodge ball, hot dogs and ice cream cones.
HCSC parks:
The lap park is the best thing since sliced bread. The hcsc dig crew does an amazing job.
Why Your Session?:
Because you will have the opportunity to hit pat, austin, bryan and i in the face with a dodge ball.

Austin Smith

Austin Smith Bend, OR

" Another former HCSC camper, Austin Smith has a special place in the High Cascade heart. He grew up working at camp as a digger (along side his buddy Curtis Ciszek) and then went onto take the snowboard world by storm. That season he bagged the coveted last part in the People movie, won Transworld's Rookie of the Year Award, and even got last place at XGames. Following that he ran into a bit of misfortune battling a slew of injuries over the past couple seasons. He returned to snow last summer during Snowboarder Magazine's America's Next Top Pro Model where he was crowned champion. Austin's back! "

Reason for Summer Snowboarding:
Soft snow, sunshine, and perfect parks and pipes you can't go wrong.
Favorite thing about HCSC?
I have been a camper, working or hanging around HCSC for enough years where I have gotten to know the majority of the staff and coming back each summer to see all the people that work there, lurk there and be campers is what keeps me coming back.
HCSC parks:
I used to be a digger at HCSC and I know how much work it takes to make the park as good as it is, so thank you diggers. And lets be honest, it's pretty nice that there are no skiers cutting you off at HCSC.
Why Your Session?:
Because we have all our bases covered, if you want to learn how to make turns like one of the most stylish turners in the game Curtis will give you hand, and if you want double corks John has got you covered, and Pat has handplants and tailblocks taken care of and for anything in between Bryan and I can probably figure it out.

Spencer O'brien

Spencer O'brienVancouver, British Columbia, Canada

" Living just North of Mt. Hood in the Canadian Oregon (British Columbia), Spencer is just a half days drive down to HCSC. Last summer during Spencer's first ever Signature Session™ she was full of awesome ideas: all-girls foam pit sessions, all-girls air-bag sessions, etc. We were really struck with what a genuine, committed person Spencer is. Obviously you see it in her riding, but that same trait translates to everything in her life: including coaching. Spence truly wants the girls (and the boys) who come out to camp to get the most out of their time and to have a blast. "

Leanne Pelosi

Leanne Pelosi Calgary, Alberta, Canada

" Maybe it's the Alberta accent, maybe it's her perma-smile... whatever it is, you just can't help but be in a good mood and inspired when you're around Leanne. Years ago we were lucky enough to have Leanne with us for entire summers as a full-time coach - today, we'll settle for at least a solid Signature Session™. Rivaling Hana Beaman with 5 straight summers as a Signature Sessioner™, Leanne is as accomplished as they come in our world. Coming off a fantastic season filming for Standard Film's The Storming, there's a million reasons to come to Leanne's session. Heck, Leanne owns her own... "

Reason for Summer Snowboarding:
The best part about riding in the summer is that you can practice all those tricks you were too afraid to try on the ice at your home mountain in the slush! The HCSC airbag is a dream come true. Now your bag of tricks just got wayyyy heavier! Booyeah. This is a vid of me trying the air bag: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKgHSIQjiiA
