Snowboard Parks

Our two Private parks are made for 100% Snowboarding™.

We are snowboarders, so every single aspect of our 2 private parks is built entirely for snowboarders: from the shapes of our jumps, to the way we set our rails, HCSC is built for YOU.  Constructed by Pat Malendoski, builder of the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Half Pipe, and maintained by our crew of 18 Diggers, our snowboard parks are crafted to help you learn, have fun, and if need be: to learn how to have fun!

Unlike a terrain park you ride at a resort, HCSC’s parks are designed to facilitate our world-renowned coaching program (we’ve been coaching snowboarding since the summer of 1990).  That means there is a specific progression for all our features and all of your riding; from the smallest Mini Features to the biggest Super Pipe, our coaches will guide you through this terrain at your own pace to hot-step your progression and make sure you’re having fun doing it.

Explore the sections below and click that movie over there to see what happens when you combine one of the world’s best snowboard park builders with snowboardings’s most authentic coaching program.

Our continuously evolving Main Park™ has set the stage for snowboarding’s progression for 25 years.

More tricks have been learned, invented and enjoyed on this stretch of snow than any other on Earth.  From Peter Line’s back rodeos to Bode Merrill’s back 7 one-footers, the Main Park™ is home to legendary tricks and people.  Although you can lap the Main Park™ on the high-speed quad too – most choose to ride our two private rope-tows, and some folks even like to hike specific features.  No matter how you choose get up the hill, you’re gonna have a blast on the way down.

Our Main Park™ includes:

  • Jumps – small bumps to medium jumps, and large step-overs.
  • Rails & Boxes – simple rails and boxes, kinks, close-outs, ledges, Marshmallow bonks
  • Rail Island™ – ride up rails, hit the return feature, then back down a rail or ledge.  Only at HCSC.
  • 1/4 Pipes & Hips – so much fun for killer methods or fancy dancy hand plants.
  • Super Pipe – 22 ft. Olympic Sized Super Pipe (summer pipe for the U.S. Snowboarding Team
  • Mini Pipe – 12 ft. Mini Pipe (home of the Bode Merrill Mini Pipe Invitational . . . the funnest pipe you’ve ever ridden!)

Hot Laps Anyone?

HCSC’s nearly one mile long Lap Park™ is perfect for shredding with your new friends and coaching group!  The park flows amazingly well and is loved by intermediate and advanced riders alike.  It has a continuous flow of features with bank turns, hips, fun size trick friendly jumps, boxes, and rails.

This park is loved so much it’s home to the Drink Water / High Cascade Rat Race each summer.  Pros  (ever heard of Terje Haakonsen or Pat Moore?)  from all around the world come to ride this renowned park.

And the best part?  You just hop back on the Palmer high-speed express quad and do it all over again in mere minutes.  The epitome of summer shredding.

It’s Super. It’s a Pipe. It’s a Superpipe!

The HCSC Superpipe is the only pipe of it’s size (Olympic 22 ft.) and quality anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere during the months of June, July and August. Built and maintained by Pat Malendoski, park building legend and builder of the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics Half Pipe, it’s no wonder Olympic teams from all over the world come to ride in our park every summer.  And this beast doesn’t just run for a couple weeks, it lasts all summer long!

Summer home to the U.S. Snowboarding Team, HCSC’s Superpipe was also ridden by the French, Russian, Japanese, and Australian national teams as they prepare for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.  But don’t be intimidated, these Olympians are always more than happy to help get you to the lip of the pipe or take a bite off your sandwich!

Check the video to see how killer our 22 ft. Superpipe really is!

MINI PIPE, BIG FUN!

Halfpipes aren’t just for X-Games superstars and Olympic Medalists. . . that why we have the “People’s Pipe,” built for everyone else.  Our Mini Pipe is 12ft tall, soft, and seems to have a spell cast on it making you land any trick you try.  No matter who you are, cruise in HCSC’s Mini Pipe and have a blast.  Slashes, methods, handplants, old school grabs . . . do whatever you like.  It’s easy and it’s fun.

It’s also where pro boarder man Bode Merrill has his Merrill Mini Pipe Invitational (MMPI) for other pro boarders who are NOT pipe jocks.  Each summer the world’s best non-pipe pros come to HCSC to ride in the MMPI and take pipe riding (not) seriously.

Press the “play” on button on that video and see what we’re talking about.

The perfect size features to learn any trick.

Why be scared when you ride?  Snowboarding is supposed to be fun, not death defying.  HCSC’s Mini Features are the best for trying and perfecting your desired freestyle maneuvers.  We have mini jumps, mini rails, and boxes of all shapes and sizes for you to have a blast and get awesome at doing something awesome.

Once you get your hot moves dialed in on the Mini Features, take those bad boys (or girls) to some of the bigger features in our parks.  And even if you become the world’s best repeating triple-threat 5x Olympic and X-Games medalist the world has ever seen, you’ll still want to come back to HCSC’s Mini Features and have some fun.

Hit the old “play” button over there to see some serious fun going down (the mountain).

It’s like jumping into a giant Marshmallow!

Not just for backflips and triple corks, HCSC’s BAGJUMP™ is perfect for getting the feeling of being in the air without the consequences of a hard landing.  Because our 50’x50′ BAGJUMP™ is so soft and absorbs so much energy, you’ll gain confidence in your air-awareness (thanks Craig Kelly) which you can quickly take to real jumps on the next run.  Jump into it > watch others > get coached > do it again.  That’s how you learn.

And you know what?  It’s just plain fun to ride!

Bag some air on our perfected snowboard jumps.

Between the nearly 15 jumps throughout our 2 parks, you can learn your first grab on a five-foot table top jump, or watch Signature Session™ pro Sage Kotsenburg float double cork 1260’s on the 70 ft Big Jump (you can too with a couple summers at HCSC!).  No matter what level you’re at, there’s a jump with your name all over it.

Because HCSC is 100% snowboarding, our jumps are built just for you (sorry skiers).  Whether you’re working on grabs, spins, or just styling out a trick you learned on FDOH (first day on-hill), there’s a perfectly shaped jump for you.  And unlike any other snowboard park, our jumps are hand raked 2-3 times each day by our crew of 18 Diggers to make sure they ride as well at the end of the day as they did when the sun came up.

Click on that pointy triangle thing over there and a video should play showing you some of these perfected snowboard jumps.

The secret to getting better at anything is having fun and doing it over and over again.

Your great grandpa who rode HCSC in the 1990’s will think you’ve got it easy nowadays with our two private rope tows.  “Back in my day we had to hike for every bit of airtime . . . . and we liked it!”  Or did he ever tell you that he had to walk in the snow, up-hill, 2 miles both ways to and from school?  Well, ask any camper from before 2008 and they’ll tell you the same thing about riding in our park.  We used to hike everything.

That was then; today all you have to do is grab a handle and don’t let go until you get to the top; buckle your back binder and then shred the jumps, rails, and pipes over and over .  One rope tow is dedicated to the Main Park™ and the other is for the Super Pipe and Mini Features.  It’s easy, makes the park more fun, and saves time, letting you ride the park as many times as you have energy for.  Now that’s how you get better at snowboarding!

Clickity-clack that play button over there to see people making some hot laps in our Main Park™ and Super Pipe.

Learn to Snowboard the Easy Way™ (on the perfect terrain).

In 2009 we teamed up with Burton to create the world’s first terrain-based learn-to-snowboard park and curriculum; these programs evolved into HCSC’s Soft Start™ and Burton’s Snowboard Academy.

Our Soft Start™ Learning Park has several features designed to control your speed and allow you to gain your balance without fear of not being able to stop!  This terrain also takes a lot of the hard work and falls out of your first couple hours on the snow.  This means you’ll have time to build confidence and trust in yourself, your coach, your equipment, and the snow.  The perfect slope, gentle rollers, bank turns, and a safe return feature make our Soft Start™ Learning Park the best place in the world to get comfortable on a snowboard.

If you’d like to try snowboarding or are new to the sport, be sure to register for Soft Start™.  It’s awesome: soft snow, sun, fun, and highly trained coaches will get you to the next step (or the first step) in your snowboarding.
