This one doesn’t need much explanation. It’s ridiculous levels of both fun and awesomeness are pretty self-explanatory. One thing to note however is that hitting the BagJump jump is no substitute for learning the fundamentals and board/body control of jumping on-snow. Once you’re comfortable jumping and landing is when the BagJump jumps truly become beneficial.
HCSC’s parks are maintained by a crew of 18 snowboarders that eat, sleep and breathe snowboarding. They are the first ones on and the last ones off the mountain each day, are dressed primarily in black, and have really nice tans. They are always on hand with rakes, salt, and shovels to keep our parks in pristine condition throughout the day, all day, every day.
Although this section of our park is constantly changing from summer to summer, and session to session – The Big Hip is a fairly common fixture here. This giant, regular footer’s front-side hip allows you to go as small or as big as your board will allow. FYI – Bode Merrill once double back flipped over the entire thing… it was bananas.
Here’s another perfect section of our park to master your rail/box game. It’s tucked out of the way next to the super pipe and has a great little jump line next to it if you want to switch things up.
Originally designed by Bryan Fox when he was a Digger, The DDR box gets it’s name from the video game Dance-Dance-Revolution. This big, wide-open dance floor size box wants to share the next dance with YOU.
Not even fully depicted here in this map, our series of rail lines offer every classic rail version imaginable: flat bars, down bars, down-flat-downs, pole jams, etc. - all set up in a mellow, fun to ride manner. Lapping these lines on the rope tow allow you to progress naturally.
Before stepping to bigger rails you need to lock down the basics. This sprawled out section of our park has tons of different combinations of low wide boxes, pic-nic tables, and easy to ride rails to help you dial in your skills.
Originally designed during the days of hiking, this up-and-back-down design was intended to maximize the number of features you got to hit per hike. A few combos on the way up, followed by a few combos on the way back down. Even though we ride rope tows now, more boarding is more boarding, so Rail Island is here to stay!
After 20 years in operation, we realized that people prefer getting pulled up the mountain by machines to walking uphill all day… who knew? We put this revelation to use in 2010 and doubled the quantity of our pulling machines giving us two private rope tows that service both the upper and lower sections of our Main Park.
Many resort parks offer scaled down versions of big jumps in their beginner parks. Often times this leads to a jump geometry that’s actually harder to hit with small quick take-offs. We strive to shape jump trajectories and landings so that our jumps aren’t just smaller: they’re easier to learn on.
These air awareness stepping-stones offer the perfect size and shape to dial in all of your tricks, getting them ready to take to the next level. Fully “lap-able” on our private rope tow, you can jump more in one day than most people get to jump in a month.
Whether you’re Chas Guldemond lapping our rope tow learning cab-12 doubles or sending the best feeling method of you’re life, this is the place to do it. For 20+ years theses jumps have offered real-time entertainment, inspiration, and motivation to onlookers from all corners of our park.
The last of the great mini-pipes! As resorts trade their small pipes in for giant ones, or try to pass banked ditches off for mini-pipes, our True-Transition™ 13-foot pipe lives on in necessary glory. This soft-walled beauty is the missing link to helping you figure out transition riding, and it's just begging to be hand-planted in a t-shirt.
Built by Pat Malendowski (builder of the 2002 Olympic pipe and the Burton US Open pipes for the last decade), our soft, manicured, rope tow accessed superpipe just might be the best pipe on Earth to learn in. A far cry from the rock hard ice sculptures of winter, this was the pipe Shaun White chose to polish off his doubles before the 2010 Olympic season. Sessions 1-3 it'll be 22' walls. Sessions 4-6 it will be 18' walls.
We're not sure why, but snowboarding on plastic picnic tables is Authorized Awesome™. This zone has all kinds of versions of wide-easy-to-slide plastic.
Oh If these walls could talk… Some crazy wall-ride set ups have been know to go down in this zone offering up opportunities for every snowy skate trick simulation you can imagine.
One of our camp sponsors, DC, shipped us this "replica missile" from the late, great DC Mtn. Lab. If you weren't lucky enough to visit the DC Mtn. Lab back in the day, here's your chance to ride an explosive piece of snowboard history.
Our favorite Historical Monument! During the Great Depression, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal Policies provided the funding and vision for this amazing structure. Finished in 1937, it's awe-inspiring architecture, giant interior timber beams, and general ruggedness are a throwback to a time when humans were a heartier breed. It was also featured as the exterior setting shots for the infamous Stanley Kubrick film, "The Shining".
Hard to imagine that it practically get's buried each winter.
The Lap Park is designed to be able to flow through in one consistent line, or to pull off to the side after each feature for some coach consulting or a little R&R. The jumps have various size take off options, and offer the perfect rhythm and repetition to get your winter legs back in action.
The HCSC intelligence command center. Phones ringing, faxes faxing, dogs sleeping, and the HCSC Office Girls taking care of business! Chances are you’ll never even walk through these doors. Why hang out in an office at camp?
On arrival day you check in here first. For all of your bumps and brusies, scrapes and sniffles – our camp RN Nurse Greg and his medical team will keep you in working order and ready to shred.
Considered the center of camp life, this is where every activity meets, has the skate street course as a front yard and has the foam pit, a mini ramp, and tramps in the back yard. Broken into several floors and wings, The Lodge houses the most campers in one building (60 boys between the ages of 13-17) and has the one of the best living areas at camp with the FUEL TV Lounge & Game Room: a pool table, foosball table, ping pong table, video games, a big screen television and more!
Blossom House is across the street from the foam pit and tramp areas, has a separate porch for each floor and has some of the best views of the most beautiful sunsets around.
Surrounded by pines on either side with a beautiful outside deck area and creek that runs outback, Greg House boasts an upstairs and downstairs living area, and is just a stone’s throw from the Lodge, and Nurse’s Office.
Three separate HCSC chalets in one, each on a different floor, Boardwalk is conveniently perched atop our dining facility where breakfast and dinner is eaten and lunches are packed. Just a ball toss from the dodgeball arena, and the site of the infamous Marshmallow Drop makes this chalet both a great spot to be in Monopoly and at HCSC.
A duplex chalet that is split into two halves (left and right: making it a Whole House) is part of a row of chalets that sit in between The Lodge and Dodgeball Arena. A huge outside porch connects both halves of Whole House making this chalet an exciting place to live.
This Chalet is surround on both sides by two other chalets that makes for a fun mini HCSC neighborhood, it has a huge outside deck, and is just skip over the creek to get food at K-Unit.
An awesome Chalet located next to the creek (hence the name) and surrounded by beautiful Oregon Pines, enjoy both sun and shade on the huge outside deck and a giant living room area to hang in at night.
Just a stroll up the hill from the center of camp you’ll find two majestic log chalets surrounded by the Oregon wilderness. Built just a few years back these rustic feeling chalets are in the most scenic area at camp with awesome views of Mt. Hood on a daily basis.
Rivaling next-door neighbor Boardwalk in size, boasting four different floors of living areas, and views of the mayhem of dodgeball from the outside deck areas, there is never a dull moment in this skyward chalet (it's also the closest Chalet to Cobra Dogs btw).
There’s no better place to recharge the beef batteries than a post riding stop at the world famous Cobra Dogs. Try it “Cobra Style” with cream-cheese, kraut and Cobra Sauce, wash it down with a slushie, loosen your boots on the bench and soak up some sunshine.
The new kid on the food block of Governement Camp, is sure to delight with personal pizza creations. A joint venture between HCSC, (the one and only) Tim Eddy & Hannah Fuller (of Unicorn Food Fame): The Pizza Party will be serving handcrafted pizzas made from fresh, local, Oregon ingredients. (DYK? Last Fall Tim and Hannah ate over 30 feet of pizza during a great pizza research road trip.)
The first floor of Boardwalk plays host to the culinary heart of HCSC, serving up three delicious meals a day that are anything but square.
Homemade breakfast buffets are enjoyed over “what I’m going to shred today” discussions, while brown bag lunches are packed by a sleepy campers dressed in everything from pajamas to Gore-Tex™.
In the evening: the all-you-can-eat dinner buffet serves up a variety of classics, as well as a salad bar, using fresh local ingredients whenever possible.
The Huckleberry Inn is Governement Camp’s resident 24-hour restaurant. Over the past couple decades the Huck’s Shake, Big Man Sandwich and butter brick sized Maple Bars have posed a formidable challenge to hungry visitors of Mt. Hood.
Built on the site of HCSC’s original early 90’s skatepark, this is the spot in town where you can buy pixie sticks, toothpaste, and Mt. Hood postcards where Todd Richards used to skate vert 20 years ago. Too big to be called a convenient store, yet too small to be considered a grocery store, operators Cliff and Judy do an amazing job stocking this place with tons of necessary supplies and delicious surprises.
Commonly referred to as The Coffee Lady (after Carolyn who own’s and operates the place), the tiny little Three Sister’s Coffee shop is cute as a button. Looking for a cool treat before heading to the hill? Try her iced coffee made with coffee ice cubes!
Government Camp’s long-standing watering hole and restaurant, Charlie’s is the epitome of local authenticity. Rich with Government Camp history, walking through the doors of Charlie’s feels like stepping back in time to the way mountain saloons once were. Although off limits to HCSC Campers under 21, Charlie’s is a fantastic spot for Adult Campers or visiting parents to grab a meal. RIP to Charlie Sr., (Govy’s unofficial mayor) who passed away in the spring of 2010 – we miss you buddy!
Granddaughter of the one-and-only, late and great Charlie Sr., Volcano Cone’s owner/operator Sally Butler is quite possibly the sweetest, smiliest ice-cream scooper alive. Believe it or not, there will be several days up on the mountain you’ll be sweatin’ an ice-cream cone and Volcano Cones will be your sweet relief. May we recommend a chocolate lover’s chocolate in a waffle cone?
Swing in and say “Hi!” to Leandra if you’re in the mood for a deli style sandwich, fresh baked treat, warm coffee, breakfast sandwich, smoothie or even the occasional fresh sushi. This place has it all!
Have you ever dreamt of catching air, doing a crazy trick and then landing in a hug? Welp, that’s basically what jumping into our foam pit is like. Get corked, do double b’s, or just belly flop… no consequences. We’ve teamed up with K2 Snowboarding to enhance the pit with their Harshmellow binding foam technology making a good thing even better.
HCSC has Spring Free Trampolines. These are the safest, bounciest, quietest, and best trampolines on Earth. Practice flying or learn some snowboarding fundamentals. Strap in to one of our specially designed tramp-boards to try different spins and grabs before taking your new moves up to the glacier. Un-strap and grab a skate deck to do some triple kick flips. Boom.
AKA the perfect size ramp, this mini ramp is known the town over for being the perfect place to stomp your run and learn as many new tricks as you can imagine. Grind, slide, flip, stall and revert your heart out. Take a few turns before the 4:00 meeting, this ramp is right behind the lodge!

When you walk through these doors its like you’ve stepped out of a time traveling Delorean and into the future. You can tryout hundreds of NEXT YEARS latest and greatest snowboards, boots and bindings from the greatest brands on the planet. For free. Heck, maybe we’ll even give you stuff for trying it!
This is where it all goes down, from daily meetings to skate comps to rap battles. Meet here with your counselor, then buckle your helmet and get after the Euro Gap, nose slide the piano box, jib the cheese wedge, manny the manual pad, or 5-0 a down rail. The possibilities are endless. But beware, there might be an egg or water balloon toss activity going on nearby!
As if you couldn’t find enough gear in HCSC’s demo center, campers also get free, full usage of Burton’s demo center gear. Come in, hang out, pick the brains of the board technicians, or just play them in Rock Band. This is the place to find out about Burton activities and giveaways during the session as well.
A full service shop with deep Oregon roots, Exit is the place to get everything from skateboards and snowboards, to helmets, socks, sunglasses, shoes, wheels, and sweet deals. Come with money in your pocket or set up an account before you get here, this place rules – and Chris Metcalf is the man.
Built by our friends at Planet Design, the set up is over 6,500 square feet of interconnected mini ramps, spines, bowls and more; surfaced in a fresh layer of Skatelite™, and designed for all ability levels. If you are just learning to drop in or transferring from bowl to bowl: the ramps have something for everyone.
The only two tier dodgeball arena known to exist anywhere. With sanctioned games from the National Dodgeball Association, teams of 50, theme music, prizes and an announcer - things have been known to get crazy in the Oakley Dodgeball arena. From dodgeball pros to average Joes you are bound to have fun in here!
