Housing at Camp
You’ve decided on coming to camp! (That rules!) Have you chosen which session(s) you are going to register for? Have you thought about where you’d like to lay your head for the best eight days of your summer? We often get asked, “do I want to stay in The Lodge™ or The Chalets™?” and we wanted to share some information with you that may make your decision that much easier.
The Lodge™ is a three-story authentic ski lodge built in the late 1940s that is available to boys ages 13 to 17! It is undoubtedly the epicenter of camp life and there’s never a dull moment in these quarters. The Lodge™ is where everyone groups up each morning to go ride, do afternoon activities, see shows, have BBQ’s, etc. The top floors house the sleeping quarters, with each room sleeping between 12-24 boys. The main floor is the common space and lounge area. This is where you can hang out with your friends, shoot some pool, play ping-pong, watch the newest shred flick, and recharge for the evening’s activities. The basement of The Lodge™ houses the bathrooms, lockers designated for each campers’ belongings, and The Demo Center™. Out the front door is The Street Course™ skate park, out the back door is the mini ramp and Trampoline Land, and out the side door is The Camp Store™.
Do a lil’ bit of research, and you’ll find that The Chalets™ accommodations are the best snowboard camp lodging out there. Our deluxe mountain style vacation Chalets sleep approximately 10-18 campers, with approximately 2-8 campers per bedroom in twin and bunk beds. There are several different Chalets around camp, and campers are grouped into Chalets based on age and gender (i.e. girls and boys do not share Chalets). All the Chalets are within close walking distance of the Lodge™ and camp’s dining facility, The K-Unit™.
The Chalets™ are set up like mountain vacation condos, with great interior decorations, big screen TV’s, plenty of couch space for all, and are perfect for an eight-day getaway. They provide a quieter and more intimate accommodation than The Lodge™ for the camper who wants to feel a little more ‘like home’.
High Cascade Snowboarders now have the option to stay at the private Windells Academy Campus! Located in beautiful Welches, Oregon, the private 28-acre Windells Academy Campus is tucked away at the base of Mount Hood and features 90,000 sf of skateparks, trampolines, dry sold, foam pit, and traditional camp fun! Cabins at the Windells Academy Campus are furnished and renovated, each sleeping 8-12 campers, and feature hardwood floors in common areas, plush carpeting in the bedrooms, TVs, and surround sound (for getting the juices flowing first thing in the morning). Each cabin overlooks the courtyard, with tons of skate-able and ride-able features, slack lines, tether ball, fire pits, trampolines, and so much more.
* Fear not! All snowboard campers who choose to stay at the Windells Academy Campus will still ride together on hill with all HCSC campers in our Private Snowboard Park.
On Supervision – High Cascade’s responsible counselors live in both The Lodge™ and The Chalets™. Can’t remember when dinner is? Don’t know what time dodgeball starts? Who are the Signature Session™ pros? They know the answer to everything (well maybe….wait, YES, everything) and they’re all pretty dang good snowboarders. Your counselor is like your mentor at camp. Consider them to be a mother/father/big brother/big sister/close friend/advice giver during your time at camp. Screened from hundreds of applicants and hand picked, our counseling staff is the best in the business. Certified in First Aid and CPR, criminal background checked, and drug tested, the chosen few who become High Cascade Snowboard Camp Counselors are an impressive bunch. Our counselors are strategically chosen because we know you’ll find them to be pretty darn like-able and helpful as well.
Let’s Talk Location, Okay? No matter where you decide to The Lodge™, The Chalets™, or the Private Windells Academy Campus your home base will be close to all things great at camp. The boundaries of our camp are essentially a two-block radius, so you’ll never be far from anyone or anything at anytime. Check our interactive map to get a feel for the lay-of-the-land.
So now you’ve seen The Lodge™, you’ve seen The Chalets™, you’ve seen our Campus, but now its time to GET OUT(side and snowboard)!
