Hood River, OR

Over the mountain and through the woods 40 miles North of Government Camps you’ll find Hood River. Located in the Columbia River Gorge, Hood River boasts spectacular scenery as well as an abundance of recreational activities.

Windsurfing and kite sailing enthusiasts come from around the world to take advantage of the Gorge's steady wind conditions. The Columbia River provides a perfect location for fishing and whitewater rafting adventures. The area can be explored via the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail.

Outdoor activities aside, Hood River enjoys a wealth of entertainment. Hop on the Mount Hood Railroad and take in the panoramic views of majestic Mt. Hood while enjoying a murder mystery dinner, or sample acclaimed ales and seasonal brews after taking a tour of the Full Sail Brewing Company. Moreover, many of Hood River's vineyards welcome visitors to their tasting rooms. The International Museum of Carousel Art, home to a large and comprehensive collection of antique carousel art, is well worth the visit.
