Every March, since 1982 a season of professional snowboard contests come to a close at The Burton US Snowboarding Championships.  Although winners of the USO might not be overnight’d across country to appear on Oprah the next day, or become instant mainstream media sensations – the honor and prestige of a USO Title is unmatched anywhere within the sport of snowboarding.  Craig Kelly, Terje Haakonsen, Todd Richards, Peter Line, Travis Rice, Ross Powers, Danny Kass, Shaun White, Torah Bright, Kelly Clark and Gretchen Bleiler are just a few of the names who have won titles along the way.

Back in 1999 the USO added a junior division to showcase the best 13 and under riders in the world: The USO Junior Jam.  Since it’s debut, the winner’s of the Junior Jam read like a “who’s gonna be who” list in pro snowboarding: Pat Moore, Jake Blavelt, Luke Mitrani, Ellery Hollingsworth, Shayne Pospisil, Matt Ladley, etc.  If there was ever a contest oracle for predicting the future: this would be it.

HCSC loves this 100% Snowboarding Contest, and is proud to provide the winners of the Junior Jam with a customary trip to High Cascade.  Kyle Mack and Arielle Gold, we salute you.  See ya this summer!

Ex HCSC Counselor turned Photo Superstar Crispin Cannon's Shot of Shaun's Double

Read on CNN.com about the amazing Timberline Lodge that most snowboarders waltz right by on the way to the lift.  Built before power tools, when men were men, most folks know little more about the Timberline Lodge than the fact that it was in the movie The Shining.  If you get a chance to take a tour this summer, you’ll marvel at the herculean task it was to build this rugged Northwest beauty.
