Summer time rules!!!

Friday, August 12th, 2011

Man summer time is awesome, but just like everything else that’s awesome, it must come to an end. Today at High Cascade, we had our last day on hill for the summer. It was a sad, but happy day, because it was so much fun! Check out this picture and see for yourself how awesome it really was.

Off the hill the fun for sure did not stop! We had our Marshmallow Drop™. The Drop™ is always an awesome time. Catch a delicious treat, and win a snowboard.

We also had our world famous Giveaway™. Campers were pumped to get some new stuff! Check out Coach Johnny O’Connor and his camper being real happy!

The Smore’s and autographs with our Signature Sessioners™ went off really well too! The Videograss guys rule!

With our giveaway we sometimes have the option of the Mystery Box™. You never know what will be in the Mystery Box™, this time the camper was pretty unlucky…

To top off the evening we gave out a bunch of awesome boards. Sometimes winning boards can have a downfall…

Man we would just like to say thanks to everyone who came out this summer! It really was an awesome time, and we can’t wait to see everyone next year!!!!!!

Spin Cycle!!

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

We had our 3ed annual Spin Cycle Classic™ on hill yesterday. It was insane! For those that don’t know, the way that the Spin Cycle Classic™ works is that the riders start out at 180′s and work their way through all of the spin up to 900, spinning in every direction. You also have to grab too, and if the landing is sketchy it doesn’t count! If you don’t get a spin then you get an X, and 3 X’s means you are out! It was crazy seeing people spin in every direction. We hire some real good snowboarders at High Cascade Snowboard Camp. Check out these photos to see what went down!

In the end, it ended up being Coach JD Dennis with the win! He was able to do all 4 900′s. It was awesome. The returning champ, Digger Ian Hart ended up in second place. The Spin Cycle Classic™ is for sure one of the coolest annual events that we have up at High Cascade. Tomorrow is our last day on hill for the summer! It’s going to be awesome! Check back tomorrow to see how it went down!

Photo Camp Rules!!!!!

Monday, August 8th, 2011

Session 6 at High Cascade is also Photo Workshop Camp. During this workshop, aspiring snowboard photographers have the chance to work with, and learn from some of the best, and most proficient snowboard photographers in the industry. The Campers get to experience and learn a ton. Here are some photos that a few of them have taken so far. Looking good if you ask us…

This year, the photo instructors are Andy Wright, Christy Chaloux-Coulombe, Tim Zimmerman, Chris Wellhausen, and Kari Rowe. However, learning from these guys is not just the best part of the workshop. The best part of Photo Workshop is that the photo campers also get a Private Night Shoot™ up in our Private Park™!! Check out some photos of the night shoot! Man is it cool…

Man Counselor Terence Stilin-Rooney can frontside invert! That’s good technique right there.

Jonah Owen boosting the hip in front of some very lucky photo campers!

The Hip was going off this evening!

Danny Kass was up shredding for all of the photo campers!

These photo campers were capturing all of the action that Kaitlyn Farrington was throwing down!

Man photo camp rules! Where else on earth can you come, learn from the best, and then take what you have learned and work with some of the best! If you can think of another place, let us know…

Tomorrow is the world famous Spin Cycle. It’s going to be Awesome™!!!!!!

There could be a 1,000,000 Sessions!!!!

Saturday, August 6th, 2011

That’s how much snow is up at Mt.Hood right now, especially at High Cascade Snowboard Camp!

It seriously looks like Session 3 up here. We have never seen a Session 6 with this much snow! Look at how sick our parks are looking this late in the summer.

Kitchen guy Andrew Spiegel loves the jumps, and he can tweak real good.

Our superpipe is still in tip top perfect shape too! Have you ever seen a superpipe look this good on Auguest 6th? We didn’t think so…

We have a new feature in our park this session, the pole jam. Look at how hard demo guy Tanner McCarty can tweak off of it!

Digger Laura Rogoski was also throwing awesome methods off of it! That’s a proper method if you ask us.

We can’t believe this session is our last, but we guarantee this session will be one for the memory books!

Are You Ready for a Session with 20 Signature Sessioners™?

Saturday, June 4th, 2011

Well then prepare yourself, because it’s here. Session 6 this summer is the Videograss session. That means that the entire videograss crew will be at High Cascade Snowboard Camp, shredding around, and hanging out with all of you you the entire session! If you were to add the number of video parts all of these guys have produced throughout the years, well, we wouldn’t suggest that because you will be counting for a really, really long time!

The likes of Mikey Leblanc, Darrell Mathes, Jordan Mendenhall,Louif Paradis, Alex Cantin, Johnny Miller, Harrison Gordon, Justin Bennee, Laurent Nicolas Paquin, Ashbury Eyewear’s own Lance Hakker, and the mastermind behind the lens, Justin Mayer, will all be at HCSC. Did we mention that the world premiere of their new video will take place at Session 6? Because it is. Peep the teaser for their new video right here:

and than check out last year’s recap to see how it really went down last year.

The snow will be abundant, the weather will be amazing, and the shredding will be too hot to touch!!!!

So don’t miss out and come to Session 6 at High Cascade!!!

Gretchen Bleiler’s Totally Awesome and Fun Eco Challenge!

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

The Eco Challenge started out at a fast and furious pace with tons of Oakley goggles, Eco-friendly outerwear from the GB collection and Steve Fisher’s bamboo pro model up for grabs!

The whole Eco Challenge Scavenger Hunt Group posing with ALEX and Gretchen!

The campers had to complete a 10 question scavenger hunt including tasks such as: find Gretchen and Steve at their favorite Gov’y spot, pick up 5 pieces of trash and think of 2 ways HCSC could become more environmentally friendly.

The Scavenger Hunt Questions. Don't worry, we kept things green by printing them on the back of scrap paper from our recycling bin!

In what seemed like no time at all the first two teams rolled in with the completed Eco Challenges!

The first team to come back got to Ro Sham Bo between and Oakley prize pack or Steve Fisher's Pro Model Board. Can you guess who won the board?

It was a close race! These ladies took second place by mere seconds, and each got to pick out a peice of eco-friendly outerwear from the GB collection.

After the Eco Challenge results were all tallied, the camper teams met back at the lodge to make a piece of artwork or fashion out of the trash they had collected and any other reused or reclaimed items they could find. The level of creative insight for the art projects was incredible and there was even more prizes on the line for Gretchen’s and Steve’s favorite picks.

The 3rd place team got extra points for picking up way more than the required 5 peices of trash to make their art project.

The second place team found Gretchen's soft spot when they incorporated both ALEX of alexbottle.com and high cascade!

Last but not least, these guys incorporated the marshmallow, high cascade, and a snowboard/collage to bring home the first place title. Congrats!

The art work podium shot.

It was was fun, educational and generally awesome for everyone who was involved! I am looking forward to paging through all the Eco Challenges and put some of the ideas to work making my everyday life and high cascade more green! Check out more of the art projects below.

HCSC Signature Sessioner (#6) JP Walker: Awesome ESPN Mini-Documentary

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

Watch and Learn folks.  ESPN just released a pretty awesome little glimpse into JP Walker’s career.  If you’re new to snowboarding and you don’t understand the heavy role JP played in our sport’s evolution: you’ll soon understand how psyched we are to have JP at camp this summer Session 6 for his Signature Session with Jeremy Jones, Joe Sexton and Keegan Valaika.

The Marshmallow is our beloved mascot
