Who is That Giant Man?

Monday, June 20th, 2011

I’m sure all of you up here at High Cascade Snowboard Camp have seen a really tall guy walking around camp with a camera. In fact, he’s so tall it would be really hard to miss him. Well, this gentle giants’ name is Sean Lucey, and we recently sat down and got a few words out of him!

Name: Sean Lucey
Camp Position: Filmer
Years working at camp:4

HCSC: What did you do this winter?
Sean:I was a filmer for Think Thank, and helped film their new video Ransack Rebellion. I basically lived out of my truck and traveled all around the U.S filming different Think Thank riders all year long. I also spent a lot of time in Tahoe, and basically filmed Nick Visconti, Tim Eddy, and Jason Robinson’s entire parts.

HCSC: How tall are you?
Sean: 7’2″

HCSC: Is it true that you got hired by Think Thank and HCSC because you can get a birds eye view with out having to use a crane?
Sean: Definitely. I am the Human Crane.

Pretty awesome that the same videographers who film the pros are also the same videographers who film campers and make the HCSC session videos!!! If you want to get filmed by Think Thank filmers, then all you have to do is come to camp! It’s that easy!!!

Come check out all of Sean’s hard work tonight, when Think Thank premieres there new video, Ransack Rebellion! It should be Awesome™

Activity day oh HEY!!!!!!!!!

Monday, June 20th, 2011

Today was Activity Day and it ruled!!!!! While some people went snowboarding

other people went on Awesome™ activities!!!!!

The Activities™ that were offered were Paintball, Rafting, and Skate Park Tour. While Rafting, and Paintball are super cool, today we are going to focus on Skate Park Tour..

The Skate Park Tour started off at Hood River.

Hood River is one of the best skate parks ever. Check it out.

Everyone on the trip was skating so hard! So many tricks were thrown down, and it was loads of fun!

After we all jammed out at Hood River, it was time to go across the bridge into Washington! That’s right, at High Cascade we bring our Skate Park Tours all over!! We skated this park for a good hour and it was so much fun!!

The day was really amazing. When we all got back to camp, it was right in time for Dodgeball!!!!!

To top the day off, we all got to see a really cool image of Mt.Hood on the way back. See for yourself!

Those clouds really do look awesome! Activity day is a great day to take advantage of all the other things that the beautiful Northwest has to offer. It’s a good day to take a day off of snowboarding, and recharge your battery’s for the following 3 days of the session!

Sunshine All Day long!!!

Saturday, June 18th, 2011

Big things happened today at High Cascade Snowboard Camp!!! First of all, it was the sunniest day of the summer. We know that’s not saying much, since it’s only day two on-hill, but boy was it nice to be out in the sun!! Check out how awesome the hill looked today!!

In this photo right here we have K-Unit extraordinaire Kyle Lopiccolo. Man can that dude boost.

Also Signature Sessioner™ Scott Stevens was up on hill doing crazy things over the hip. Scott is one of the most creative snowboarders out there, hands down.

Today was also an exciting day because our Bag Jump opened up today!!!

Check out Camp Director Preston Strout getting inverted on the Bag Jump. What other camp director do you know who can shred that hard?

Adult Camp™ was also on hill today, soaking up rays.

If you are over 21, and you love snowboarding, then Adult Camp™ is for you. You are never too old for Adult Camp™, and you can always make new friends!

After snowboarding today Salomon and Bonfire showed up and hosted a skate park relay race. Campers raced in relay around the street course with suite cases filled with funny clothes. The first team to get all of their members back with funny clothes on won, easy as that. Check out a few photos we snapped of the action!

Signature Sessioner™ Chris Grenier got in on some of the action too

We also went skateboarding today! We had some serious action from Campers,

and Staff! Check out Digger Brandon Hobush destroy the big bow!

Hopefully tomorrow is just as awesome today! We have big things planned for tomorrow! You are going to have to check back to see what we mean!!!

Today was a Good Day

Friday, June 17th, 2011

It was just like the Ice Cube song.
The day started out with all of the Campers meeting their Coaches out on the street course. After that it was Snowboard time!!!! All of the groups headed up to the top of the Magic Mile at Timberline, on beautiful Mt.Hood, and then proceeded down to our 2 Private Parks!!!

The snow right now is absolutely amazing, and the snowboarding today was just insane! Just look at this photo of Coach Kyle Fischer, and remember it’s only day one of the summer!!!

The Signature Sessioners™ were also all out shredding as well today. One Signature Sessioner™ who was killing it especially hard was Jed Anderson. He is a snowboard obstacle destroyer!!

But the on-hill day portion of the day was only the beginning as to why today was a Good Day. Today was also totally radical because today was the grand opening of Pizza Party!!!!

Pizza Party is run by K2 rider Tim Eddy

and Hannah Fuller, and man do they make some delicious ‘za! Take a look!

No customer was left unsatisfied. Just look at Devin:

He was Pizza Party’s number 1 customer, and he was pumped!!

Now everything we have just talked about is totally cool and all, but if you think just Shredding, and the opening of Pizza Party is all that made today a Good Day, a Good Day, then man you have another thing coming buddy. Today was also a Good Day because the Capita Snowboards Super Team came by the High Cascade street course to give all the HCSC campers a very special auto-graph signing.

Capita’s entire team was there, and that includes Jess Kimura, Andrew Burns, Phil Jacques, Dan Brisse, Laura Hadar, Brenden Cocard, Cale Zima, and Scott Stevens. Man that’s a lot of pros!!!

There was also tie-dying today

waxing,
trampolines,
skateboarding,
and…
DODGEBALL!!!!!!!

Man, today really was just a Good Day. It was so good that we here at HCSC are just wiped out and really have to get some sleep!!! We have to rest up and get ready for some more amazing things that are bound to happen tomorrow. So check back and see what other amazing things happen at High Cascade Snowboard Camp!

Summer 2011 Has Begun!!!

Thursday, June 16th, 2011

Today, 6/15/2011, marked the very first day of High Cascade’s 2011 summer season! While it may not have been the sunniest first day in camp’s history, it sure was one of the best! Campers started to arrive at HCSC around noon.

While it might have been a little misty and rainy, it did not damper the fun everyone had all day. Youth Campers™,

and
Adult Campers™

started off the day by checking in with the nurse, and then finding out which Chalet™ they were staying in, or grabbing their bags and heading into the lodge.

Once everyone was checked in, it was time to call the parents, tell them they all made it safe, and grab a sweet HCSC camper t-shirt!

After checking in, it really was up to you to do what ever you wanted to do. Some people went to Cobra Dogs.

While other people went to the Demo Center™, to try out some of next years’ brand new gear.

The Demo Center™
was really popping off today! People were trying out and demoing all different types of product.

No matter if it were boots, boards, or bindings that people were looking for, the Demo Center™ had it ready and available.

We had coaches in there all day, such as Arbor Snowboards rider Scotty Vine helping people find, and set up the perfect board, just for them.

If demoing gear wasn’t your thing, well there were also fierce Ping-Pong

and Foosball tournaments throughout the entire day!

Because of the rain, our arrival Barbecue was not held at the street course like it normally is. Rather, we had a delicious Barbecue

at Boardwalk.

Boardwalk is where we eat all of our meals every other day during the session.

After dinner, everyone, Campers and Staff, made their way down to the lodge for all camp Orientation™.

During Orientation™, everyone was able to go over all of the rules of camp, as well as meet the Signature Sessioners™. This session the Signature Sessioners™ are Scott Stevens,Jesse Burtner, Jed Anderson, as well as special guest Jake Kuzyk. All of those guys came into Orientation™ and introduced themselves.

The Campers were also introduced to The One Life Crew. The One Life Crew which consists of Sarka Pancochova, Chanelle Sladics, Celia Miller, and Kjersti Buaas, are all about promoting healthy eating. So because of them all of the food that we are going to be serving is going to be 100% organic.

The only Signature Sessioner™ who was not in attendance at Orientation™ was Salomon pro-rider Chris Grenier. But he had a very, very special reason for missing the meeting. That reason was game 7 of the NHL Stanly Cup. His beloved Boston Bruins were in a do or die situation, and they luckily pulled through. Watch Chris’s reaction to a goal in the 2nd period:

It really was an awesome start to the 2011 summer. Tomorrow is the first day On Hill, and with a record breaking snow year, it looks like it’s going to be an awesome one! Check back tomorrow to see what crazy things went down on and off the hill!!
