Man summer time is awesome, but just like everything else that’s awesome, it must come to an end. Today at High Cascade, we had our last day on hill for the summer. It was a sad, but happy day, because it was so much fun! Check out this picture and see for yourself how awesome it really was.

Off the hill the fun for sure did not stop! We had our Marshmallow Drop™. The Drop™ is always an awesome time. Catch a delicious treat, and win a snowboard.

We also had our world famous Giveaway™. Campers were pumped to get some new stuff! Check out Coach Johnny O’Connor and his camper being real happy!

The Smore’s and autographs with our Signature Sessioners™ went off really well too! The Videograss guys rule!

With our giveaway we sometimes have the option of the Mystery Box™. You never know what will be in the Mystery Box™, this time the camper was pretty unlucky…

To top off the evening we gave out a bunch of awesome boards. Sometimes winning boards can have a downfall…

Man we would just like to say thanks to everyone who came out this summer! It really was an awesome time, and we can’t wait to see everyone next year!!!!!!

Photo Camp Rules!!!!!

Monday, August 8th, 2011

Session 6 at High Cascade is also Photo Workshop Camp. During this workshop, aspiring snowboard photographers have the chance to work with, and learn from some of the best, and most proficient snowboard photographers in the industry. The Campers get to experience and learn a ton. Here are some photos that a few of them have taken so far. Looking good if you ask us…

This year, the photo instructors are Andy Wright, Christy Chaloux-Coulombe, Tim Zimmerman, Chris Wellhausen, and Kari Rowe. However, learning from these guys is not just the best part of the workshop. The best part of Photo Workshop is that the photo campers also get a Private Night Shoot™ up in our Private Park™!! Check out some photos of the night shoot! Man is it cool…

Man Counselor Terence Stilin-Rooney can frontside invert! That’s good technique right there.

Jonah Owen boosting the hip in front of some very lucky photo campers!

The Hip was going off this evening!

Danny Kass was up shredding for all of the photo campers!

These photo campers were capturing all of the action that Kaitlyn Farrington was throwing down!

Man photo camp rules! Where else on earth can you come, learn from the best, and then take what you have learned and work with some of the best! If you can think of another place, let us know…

Tomorrow is the world famous Spin Cycle. It’s going to be Awesome™!!!!!!

Sunny Sunny Session 5

Monday, August 1st, 2011

Well Session 5 has come to a close, but boy was it a great one! It was the sunniest session that we have had all summer! The weather finally decided to come out and greet us with a big sun smile, and we are glad that it did. It was so warm out today that a few of the staff decided that they wanted to go surfing instead of snowboarding!

But that’s not all the action that we saw on hill, oh no, not by a long shot! There were also handplants galore getting thrown down in the mini-pipe today. Look at how proper Forum Snowboards pro, and long time Signature Sessioner™ Pat Moore’s hand plants are!

We know you have seen the Session recaps™, and most of you have seen a Session video or two in your days, but did you know that Tanner Pendalton, the mastermind behind both, is an amazing snowboarder? Well you do know!

Do you like the all of HCSC’s advertisements? Think they have cool photos? Well those are all the work of High Cascasde Snowboard Camps marketing photographer Aaron Blatt. Not only is he an amazing photographer, but man that guy can shred like the best of them. Look at this Andrecht!

Off the hill things only got hotter. We had the marshmallow drop today. The person who can catch a marshmallow in their mouth from the 3ed story balcony gets a free snowboard. How cool is that?

Later in the day we had the Signature Sessioners™ sign tons of autographs and we all made smore’s. It was tons of fun!

The giveaway went off again like usual. We gave away a ton of boards!

But this time there was a twist! Hope these guys brought a towel!

Man, Session 5 was so much fun! We have one Session left this summer. Come join us and be a part of all the exciting action that happens here every single day!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh No, We Are Not Done Yet!

Monday, August 1st, 2011

No way, not even close! The snow is still abundant up on the glacier, and the parks are in perfect shape! Just look at how awesome everything is looking up there right now.

Coach Alex Rodway has been putting on jumping clinics every day on the big jump. Take notes everyone!

Kitchen worker extraordinaire, Andrew Spiegel, was also up on hill today. He was showing everyone how to really poke out a frontside spin. Man is that good looking.

We still have one Session left at camp! It’s not too late to come and experience summer snowboarding for yourself!

The Vitamin D was Flowing like a Chocolate Fountain!

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

That’s right, the sun was shining all day long! Summer is in full swing here at High Cascade Snowboard Camp. The Parks are 100% perfect, and the snow is as soft as can be. Every single feature was going off, it was insane! The big kink rail saw some serious action.

Big Chuck G, Chas Guldemond, is in the house for this session. He’s back to take our big jump head on!

The big jump was finally seeing some serious work yesterday. It’s always so awesome when the sun is shining on the glacier!

Out of all the features that saw the most action yesterday, the one that saw the most was The Hip™. The Hip™ was getting absolutely murdered by the likes of Matty Mo, Kyle Fisher, Matty B, and Alex Rodaway!

Man, those guys completely annihilated that thing!

Off the hill, the action was just as crazy, because we had the 5th annual Jeremy Jones Doughnut Race™!

The way the race works is there’s 1 representative from each house, and they have 10 minutes to eat as many doughnuts as possible. Pretty simple, right? But these are no ordinary doughnuts, no no. These are giant, competition size doughnuts! As the action got underway the judges got a little hungry judging the race, thankfully Signature Sessioner™ JP Walker has good aim!

The contest was fierce, and to be perfectly honest, kind of gross.

In the end we had 1 winner, who received a brand new Burton Jeremy Jones Snowboard, as well as some other sweet Burton goodies. But we had a slight problem, we had a 4 way tie for 2nd place! The only way we could think of to break the tie was to have one last doughnut eat off. But this time the rules were a little different… This time they couldn’t use their hands!!

The winner ended up eating 12 doughnuts! 2nd place ate 9. That’s a carb overload if you ask us, but man were they pumped on their new Burton prizes!

The winner got a brand new board! The best part about the Burton Jeremy Jones Snowboard is that it’s scratch and sniff! When scratched in the right spot, it smells like pizza!!!!!! And Pizza RULEZZZZ

It was an amazing day to start off Session 5. The action is going to keep happening all session, so stay tuned to see what happens!!

Session 4 Recap™!!!!!

Here’s the Session 4 Recap™! This recap is ‘da bomb. But we are sure you already knew that. Check it!

ANTPM!!!

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

SNOWBOARDER magazine’s America’s Next Top Pro Model wrapped up yesterday, July 20th.

Things really heated up in High Cascade’s private snowboard park! The day started off with the pros trying to battle it out on the LONGEST RAIL EVER!!!!! Ok, ok, it wasn’t really the longest rail, but it was pretty dang long!

While some riders, such as Aaron Bittner, and Sage Kostenberg, were able to make it to the end…

Other riders, like the legendary Kevin Jones, didn’t make it away so lucky!

All in all though, the mega long rail was a good time for everyone. Especially Smoken’ Snowboards rider Max Weinberger.

After the rail section of the contest, it was time for the highest air in the mini-pipe. Riders such as Lane Knack, Forest Bailey, and Bode Merril were soaring above the mini-pipe!

While ANTPM was quite eventful on hill, it wasn’t all of the action that was happening up there. No, no, there was much much more. Lib-Tech’s Boxes For Days also took place up on hill yesterday. The contest took place on the same crazy long rail that the pros were riding just minutes before. Think Thank mastermind, and Session 1 Signature Sessionerâ„¢, Jesse Burtner was announcing all over the action over the microphone. The campers were so pumped to ride an extremely unique feature, and win tons of awesome gear from Lib-Tech!

If being in a contest wasn’t your thing, well there was also plenty of other riding happening all day. Check out this photo of Coach Seth Hill, boosting over our hip!

Just look at camp Filmer Matt Roberge’s face. This air was pretty unbelievable!!!

Off the hill, the ANTPM action started back up again, this time with the Charity Auction! All of the pros from the contest brought their gear down to Boardwalk and auctioned off all of their gear that they had been using throughout the entire contest.

After all of the bidding took place during the silent auction of the event, it then became a one on one bid off. People were able to walk away with some of their favorite pro’s gear for a super good price!

In the end, it was Bode Merril, and HCSC facilities manager, Brock Odolovich, who came out with the most amount raised for charity. While Brock might have paid the most, he also received the most gear. Bode’s package included 3 boards, a set of bindings, a pair of boots, 3 pairs of goggles, a set of outerwear, 2 sets of sunglasses, and some brand new base layer. It was a steal for Brock!

SNOWBOARDER magazine’s ANTPM is a great contest, that brings out pros from every generation and allows them to compete in a fun, carefree environment. We, at High Cascade Snowboard Camp, think it’s a great opportunity to have our campers meet, and interact with their favorite pros! It was a great event, and we can’t wait for it to happen again, next summer!!
