What does your August consist of? Here at High Cascade Snowboard Camp we are still doing what we do best, which is change lives through the acts of snowboarding and skateboarding. Can you believe it’s mid august and our exclusive park is debatably better than ever. Looking through the park at any moment throughout the day you can see campers and staff pushing the boundaries of snowboarding before your very eyes. High Cascade is a place where snowboarding progresses drastically every day. This is possible because of our top of the line facilities, park staff, camp staff, campers and attitudes of everyone that encompasses camp. Session 5 is a wrap. We had the likes of Chris Grenier, Scott Stevens, Bode Merrill and Jess Kimura showing campers how to have a good time all session long. During the week aside from all of the insane snowboarding and any of the other vast amounts of activities you can choose from we had the first ever Merrill Mini Pipe Invitational. The contest was one of the best things to ever take place in our exclusive park.

High Cascade is well known for an incredible mini pipe, and just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, you thought wrong. The mini pipe on contest day was picture perfect. The roster of the contest was comprised of some of the heaviest snowboarders that have ever stepped on a wooden plank.

The contest was formatted so each rider had two runs. The best of those two runs would be judged by non other than the High Cascade Diggers. After each riders second run, the chaos began. DJ Matty Mo turned up the volume and the jam began. With awards for best grab, flip, air and bail on the line, people were going crazy.

At the end of the day people had their speculations as to who placed. But each person had their own perspective on the contest and that was simply because EVERYONE killed it. Every person that dropped into that mini pipe generated a series of “oohs and ahhhh’s.” It became clear that the diggers had their work cut out for them.

Besides the contest, The session was incredible in its own. The staff and campers were going crazy on hill learning and putting down insane tricks. High Cascade is a place of progression and innovation, and this is exactly what we’ve seen this summer and session.

The summer is coming to an end but the memories will never go away. Camp has been more fun than ever and we say that every year! If you haven’t ever made it to High Cascade, its something that you should definitely not miss. This place will change your life!

The summer is trucking along and no luster is being lost.  The snow is all time, the campers are stoked, the staff is EVEN MORE stoked.  What more could you ask for?  This session we’ve seen all sorts of activities from signature session soccer, dodgeball, tug of war, snowboarding and skateboarding.  Check out a few photos from all of the action taken place so far here at camp! Salomon and Bonfire put together a slalom run in the High Cascade lap park. The course consist of a series of sharp turns and rollers for campers to test their snowboarding skills. The race was fierce but campers concentrated more on enjoying each turn rather than trying to be the fastest snowboarder in the course. This awesome run will be set up for the rest of the summer thanks to Salomon and Bonfire!




The signature sessioners love soccer, so they hosted the famous soccer match in Welches. Two vans full of campers sent it down to the field to play a grueling match. As intense of a game as it was, all I saw was smiles from everyone. I don’t even think there was a winner, everyone who went down there was a winner in the end.




The activities have been amazing, but lets be real, the campers came here to snowboard. Lets take a look at some of the hammer photos Greg Furey took the last couple days on hill!

Where to begin! First of all, it’s arrival day of SESSION 4. The summer is cruising along and and its not waiting for anyone. Either you’re part of all the action at High cascade or you’re not. The least we can do is keep you updated here on the HCSC Blog.

Last session we hosted the first annual Rat Race. This was a downhill race presented by We Drink Water. This event was a total success and you can look forward to seeing it next summer. Sharpen your edges and wax your board, because its a Rat Race.

A lot went down today. First of all we snowboarded all day!  After that we had events like the skate contest and the talent show.  We saw insane skateboarding from both boys and girls, some extreme walking, and some awesome talents.  Just take a look at the photos from this evening!

History was made yesterday here at High Cascade Snowboard Camp after the Rat Race went down.  The guys from We Drink Water came up with the concept for this death defying race through berms, rollers and jumps to determine who the fastest racer was, AND it was for a good cause.  Drink water is a movement that was started by Professional Snowboarders Austin Smith and Bryan Fox and since it’s implementation this movement has really started moving.  Visit www.wedrinkwater.com to learn more about this group.

Showing up early to the course Austin Smith and Bryan Fox were running around putting the final touches on things.

At ten in the morning in the High Cascade Lap park, snowboarders of all ranks flocked to the starting tent to get their first runs and look at the course.  Prestigious snowboarders such as Temple Cummins, Chad Otterstrom, Pat Moore, Andrew Hardingham, Bobby Meeks and many others showed up to be part of this literal rat race to the finish.

Finally, after the riders got a few sketchy runs through the course it was time to get the event underway.  Adam Kisiel got everyone together to explain the rules and listed off the first couple riders.  First on the list was Soloman Snowboards team manager and overall awesome dude Java Fernandez.  As Java made his way to the starting gate, the gathering crowd started the classic chant to get the day started. “JAVA JAVA JAVA…”  The confirmation was given from the finish line and Java was given the green light.  As he started his run the participants of the contest went insane.

Even though Java’s run didn’t go exactly how he wanted, when he got up from his semi concussion the crowd cheered louder than any other part of the day. All fun with friends at the Rat Race.

After Java set the standard for the day with his first run, the contest was underway and looking to be one for the books right out of the gate. Here’s a look at the upper portion of the course. Pretty crazy right?

After the race ended and people returned to Government camp, the masses of people flocked to Clear Lake for an insane BBQ and awards. Austin’s parents may have made the best burgers I have ever had in my entire life. Other honorable mentions were the corn and watermelon. Everything was insane, thank you Mr. and Mrs. Smith. At the end of the day it was Curtis Ciszek taking first, Jake Price in second, and Blake Paul in third. A few other people got awards created by Austin and Bryan.

The Rat Race was a huge success. This event was put on by We Drink Water, Dakine, Nike, Nitro, Arnette, Timberline, Smith Optics, High Cascade and Poler Stuff. Keep your eyes open for this contest next year and in the future because it’s one your not going to want to miss.

Today couldn’t have gone any better here at High Cascade.  We had some of the most beautiful weather we’ve seen all summer and more activities than we even knew what to do with.  I guess all you have to do is take a look at the photos below to see what we mean…
